How Envirofluid assisted Manufacturers reduce Hazards and Expense
EFS was able to provide various boat manufacturing companies with a group of three worksafe organic chemicals
- Triple7 Heavy Duty for Degreasing
- Triple7 EnviroScale for Pickling and Preservation
- Triple7 Aircraft & Metal Cleaner for Rust Protection
The low risk chemistry blends especially designed with human safety in mind meant that minimal safety equipment was required.
The increased safety resulted in reduced expenditure by eliminating the requirement for heating costs, ventilation and other expensive safety requirements.
By removing the use of toxic and corrosive chemicals it also helped preserve the laundry assets, enabling longer equipment life.
The organic nature of the chemistries removes the requirement for ventilation, saving one client over $100,000.00 by removing the need to install a new ventilation package.
& how we got there …
The Australian ship building industry was faced with stringent Federal WHS guidelines whilst the defence department were seeking to establish some new warship manufacturing facilities.
Traditionally, boat building processes have required the use of hazardous chemicals in well ventilated environments.
Provide a range of chemicals for degreasing, pickling, preservation and rust protection that complied with the strict quality outcomes, whilst providing safer worker environments that would comply with the newly revised work health safety policies.
Phosphoric and Nitric Acids had traditionally been used.
The degreasers were inherently flammable, and the rust prevention chemicals very toxic.
The process required very high levels of PPE and extensive ventilation.
Triple7 products were substituted in place of the current chemicals, providing non-hazardous pipe laundry’s.
The bath heating was reduced from 70°C down to 40°C enabling power cost savings of up to $180,000.00 per year.
Further cost savings were experienced as their was no toxic waste to dispose of due to the organic nature of the chemistries.
The changeover to safer chemicals also shortened the manufacturing process, and in some cases reduced the plants footprint by 50% as unnecessary tanks were removed.
